Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

Happy New Years!

Bob and I are still in Lafayette, La. We like the people, the food, the music, the culture, and the weather. Additionally, we've needed to spend time at the veterinarian's getting some help for our dog and cat.

Christmas here was peaceful and quiet, and relaxed. We took in lots of Christmas festivities at Silver Dollar City when we were there, so we were ready to spend the day pretty low key. Instead of fixing a big, traditional dinner, we opted to snack on hors d'oeuvres and sweet treats throughout the day. We hope that you, too, had a wonderful Christmas.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity… and we wish you the best in 2011. May it be the year your dreams come true.

Coleen

Restaurants Add Food, Fun, and Cultural Flavor to Our RV Life and Travels

RV Life and Travel Tip

When parked with fresh water utility but no sewer hook-up, it is easy to use more water than your gray tank holds. A way to make sure that doesn't happen is to fill your fresh water tank with no more than your gray tank will hold, and then use that instead of being continually hooked up to incoming fresh water.

Campground Review

Turkey Creek RV Village

Turkey Creek RV Village makes a fine headquarters while taking in the sights and sounds of Branson, MO. It is a pet friendly campground and has Internet access. It is clean and reasonably priced.

They partner with a ticket service so that you may have show tickets delivered to the park. The prices on many of them are discounted.

Watkins Summit Group Bus. Info

We need to earn a living, even while we are RVing. Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289) within the Summit Group. You could be one, too.

RV Life and Travel Tip

A tension shower curtain rod can be put up in your shower or elsewhere in the RV to serve as a temporary towel rack or to hang other things that need to dry.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

Class A Verses 5th Wheel for Full Time RVing

~~ A future RVer asks: We have no RV experience and are planning on living in the RV we purchase. Which do you think is better for full time living? A fifth wheel or Class A? There will be 3 of us living in it. I would appreciate any advice I can get. Also, which is easier to learn to drive with?

~~ I answered in part: My opinion is that the best type recreational vehicle for full-time RV living is a straight, bumper pull travel trailer.

RVing Tip

RV Life and Travel Tip

Dump your RV holding tanks after you've been driving. That way the tank contents have been sloshing around, instead of settling, and the tanks empty better.
