Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

Stuff expands to fit the space available for it. We spent much of this week moving from our motorhome to our bumper-pull travel trailer. Things that fit comfortably in a 22 foot motorhome all winter now take up all the space in our 29 foot trailer. And, the trailer has a couple of large closets, storage space the motorhome didn't have. We must have fluffed things up as we moved them.

An RV in storage for ten years sure gathers dust. And, flies. Although they say plastic does not break down, we have various plastic vent covers and moldings that have cracked from age and being in the sun.

More about our motorhome, our travels, and our plans in the article below.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

RVing Tip

If you roll your clothes, they may fit into your overhead cabinets better. This is especially true if the cabinets are on a wall that slopes.

We Sold Our Motorhome, But Our RVing Adventures Continue

We sold our motorhome this week. No, we haven't given up RVing. We still own two travel trailers. We're just making some changes, and room for something new. It's another leg of our RVing adventures.

Our motorhome was vintage. That's the fancy way of saying it was old.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

Best Boon Docking Pull Trailer

~~ A future RVer asks: What is the best boon docking pull trailer? What should we look for in buying a pull trailer (lite and small) for boondocking?

~~ I answered in part: I don't know that it is the best, but Bob and I have been very satisfied with our Wildwood by Forest River. Much of what makes a trailer suitable for extended boondocking are the aftermarket things that you add.

~~ Read the rest of my answer -- and offer additional advice -- on the website.

Traditional and All Natural Products

Watkins, that company with the old pain relief liniments, drawing salve, double-strength vanilla, dip mixes, black pepper, and other products that Grandma used to use is still in business. We still have those things. Now, we also have a 100 percent natural honey and sugar scrub, other natural skin care products, natural flavoring extracts, and non-toxic cleaning products that are perfect for use in your RV. Take a look at what is available. I use these products, and sell them, because they are top quality. Independent Watkins Associate ID #362289.

RV Life and Travel Tip

A clean way to pick up after your dog is to use a plastic bag as a scoop. Put your hand into the bag, pick up the mess, invert the bag and tie shut, and dispose of it all.

Restaurant Review

Hana Restaurant Korean Grill and Sushi Bar

Hana Restaurant is the small café locals seem to return to time and time again for Korean food in Rapid City. If you are a frequent patron at Hana, you can get your name on the "Hana Wall." We had the Lunch Box special with bui gogi.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

Breaker Tripping Problem

~~ Eric writes: I have a 31 ft. Fleetwood Prowler and when I plug the power cord in to any outlet it will trip the general purpose 15 amp breaker. I didn't have problems before winter storage.

~~ I answered in part: You may have bad batteries. They can go dead sitting over the winter and sometimes cannot be revived. If the plates have deteriorated, they may be causing an extraordinarily big draw on your converter.

Moisture may have gotten into your electrical boxes.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

Using the Bathroom

~~ A website visitor asks: Can we use the bathroom in the RV when it is in motion on the highway, or do we have to stop at rest stops to use their bathrooms?

~~ I answered in part: I think every state has a seatbelt law that requires the driver and all passengers to be buckled up in a seatbelt or child restraint car seat while the vehicle is moving.

Featured Website Section

Texas

We are still getting a lot of questions about Port Isabel and Port Mansfield, Texas. I've posted quite a bit on the website about our time in those communities. Campground reviews of where we stayed. Reviews of the restaurants. Info about the fishing. Info about a flea market, RV show, antique farm equipment show, a music festival, and other entertainment.

~~ You'll find it all on the website.
