Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

Bob and I are in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. We are traveling back to our home base in Alaska.

We're making a pretty much direct trip back. We know many of you are along the way, and we are sorry that we won't be stopping to visit with you in person. We're making this leg of the trip -- from Rapid City, SD, to Soldotna, AK, by SUV rather than by RV. It's quite a change traveling without a recreational vehicle and we are eager to get back to our travel trailer in Alaska.

For the next week, I'm probably going to be slow at getting email responses back to you.

You'll notice this week's newsletter is brief. With moving, visiting both Bob's mother and my mother, a few other time-consuming things that have been going on it, and now the car travels, I'm way off schedule. But, many of you have missed the newsletter and been concerned enough to email asking if we are okay, so I wanted to at least get you a quick update letting you know we are fine -- just behind.

Next week's newsletter should be back to answering your questions, providing general RVing information, and having more reviews of places we've been and things we've done.

June is "Great Outdoors Month." What better time to be out enjoying some camping and RVing!

Have you noticed all the ads wanting you to make campground reservations for Labor Day weekend? Holy shmoly. I can't imagine making reservations months in advance.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

RVing Tip

Keep a windshield repair kit in your vehicle. You never know when a rock may hit your windshield and chip it. (Yes, we are traveling the Alcan and wish we'd had one with us.)

RVing Tip

Local coupon books can save you a bundle. They usually have numerous two-for-one or buy-one-get-one coupons in them. We've saved a lot on restaurants, tours, museums, tourist attractions, campgrounds, copy shops, photo development, and groceries with them. Even if you are only going to be in an area for a few days, it can pay to get one. We've found they range in price from $13 up to $55. Using just one or two of them can save you money. To find them, Google "coupon book" plus the name of the city. Or, ask at the Chamber or visitor's center. We've also found them at drug stores and convenience stores.

Watkins Summit Group Bus. Info

We need to earn a living, even while we are RVing. Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289) within the Summit Group. You could be one, too.

The Summit Group updated my Watkins business website for me (I love how they take care of that for me -- all at no charge!) so that it now provides more direct answers to the most asked questions. Take a look.
