Bayside Delicatessen: Laguna Vista Restaurant Overflowing with RVers

Bayside Delicatessen isn't just a deli sub sandwich shop. The cafe has a full menu, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It includes American and Mexican food. It also features fresh bakery goods.

Bayside Deli Breakfast Taco

An ice storm hit Port Isabel last night. This morning, the electricity was out in much of the area. Bayside Deli is in Laguna Vista. That's far enough from Port Isabel that they had power. And, close enough to attract the Winter Texans who usually go for breakfast.

The place was packed. We were seated with another couple. RVers, mostly seniors, chatted back and forth from one table to the next. The waitress warned us that the kitchen was backlogged, but no one seemed to mind waiting for breakfast.

The menu includes traditional breakfast offerings, along with the filled tortillas that are so popular Texas. I ordered an egg, bacon, and green chili tortilla (breakfast taco). Compared to other restaurants in the area, the tortilla was on the small side. The bacon and green chili were in tiny bits. I liked it, but I was still hungry after I finished.

Bayside Deli is also open for lunch and dinner. A bakery case was filled with homemade looking buns. A whiteboard by the door listed daily dinner specials -- Polish sausage last night and catfish for tonight.
