Restaurants Add Food, Fun, and Cultural Flavor to Our RV Life and Travels
Restaurants, from local greasy spoons to fine dining, play an important part in our RV life and travels. Eating out is a cultural and social thing for us. Mom and pop cafes, BBQ joints, 24-hour diners....
We dine at bakeries, bistros, truck stops, ethnic restaurants, pizza parlors, seafood shacks, steakhouses, and even some chains and fast food places. Though, we usually prefer eateries that showcase local flavor and regional specialties. We hope these reviews get your mouth watering as we share some of the good places to eat that we've found while RVing from Texas to Alaska.
Hana Restaurant Korean Grill and Sushi Bar in Rapid City, SD
Hana Restaurant is the small café locals seem to return to time and time again for Korean food in Rapid City. A Korean grill and sushi bar, it claims to bring the finest Korea and Japan offers to SD.
El Jefe's Restaurant and Cantina, the Port Mansfield Local's Café and Bar
El Jefe's Restaurant and Cantina is our "go to" place for breakfast in Port Mansfield. It's casual and friendly. The food and view are excellent. Breakfast tacos are generous and moderately priced.
Windjammer Restaurant and Lounge - Classic American Food, Fish, and Salad Bar
The Windjammer Restaurant and Lounge is Port Mansfield's eatery for, what I call, "ordinary American food." Still in south Texas and needing a break from Mexican food, we found it a welcome change.
Sweet Gregory P's Serves Up the BBQ in Port Mansfield
Sweet Gregory P's is where you go for bar-b-que in Port Mansfield. Pulled pork, beef brisket, smokehouse sausage, ribs, and smoked ham was on the menu the day we stopped in for a late lunch.
Mexiquito Restaurant Satisfies RVers with Its Breakfast Specials
The Mexiquito Restaurant attracts RVers with its bright green building and its breakfast specials. Winter Texans also go to this Port Isabel café for its all-you-can-eat shrimp and fish plates.
Bayside Delicatessen: Laguna Vista Restaurant Overflowing with RVers
Bayside Delicatessen isn't just a deli sub sandwich shop. The cafe has a full menu, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It includes American and Mexican food. It also features fresh bakery goods.
Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant: A Port Isabel Favorite for Mexican Breakfast
Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant just took the number one spot on our list of Port Isabel places to eat. Tasty food, friendly and efficient service, can't-be-beat prices, generous servings, and clean.
Pancho's Mexican Restaurant for Authentic Mexican Food Lunch
Pancho's Mexican Restaurant is the most authentic Mexican cafe we've been to since we've been in Port Isabel, TX. Excellent steak rancheros, homemade chips, good service, and reasonable prices.
Marchan's White Sands Seafood Restaurant and Bar Waterfront Dining
Marchan's White Sands caters to winter Texans. We went for dinner tonight and the place was full of senior RVers, feasting on specially priced meals. It's a seafood restaurant overlooking the water.
Hannah's Taqueria & Cake; a Café, Bakery, and Piñata Store
Hannah's Taqueria & Cake is the place to go for the piñata for your party. This Port Isabel restaurant also has Mexican pastries and cakes, along with typical breakfasts and Mexican food lunches.
Guanajuato Mexican Restaurant: After 10 Years, It Doesn't Disappoint Us
Guanajuato Mexican Restaurant has excellent food, reasonable prices, and room in the parking lot for RVs. It's our first day back in Texas, after a ten year or so absence, and we wanted Mexican food.
Mel's Diner - A 24 Hour Lafayette Restaurant worth Repeat Visits
Mel's Diner is good enough that we've been there three times in the two and a half weeks we've been in Lafayette. Considering how many good restaurants and places to eat there are here, that's saying a lot.
