RV Ramblings: The RV Life and Travel Catch-All Section

This RV Ramblings page is a mix of my thoughts on RVing and camping, along with articles and news that I think you'll find interesting or helpful. It's stuff that doesn't seem to fit into any particular section of the site, so I'm putting it here.

Our First RV: That Little Winnebago Trailer Changed Our Lives Our first RV purchase was a surprise to Bob. It was back in the summer of 1991. I bought a 12-foot Winnebago travel trailer unbeknownst to him. I had no idea at the time how it would change our lives.

We Sold Our Motorhome, But Our RVing Adventures Continue We sold our motorhome this week. No, we haven't given up RVing. We still own two travel trailers. We're just making some changes, and room for something new. It's another leg of our RVing adventures.

Dandelion Wine, Full-time RVing, and Being True to Yourself The view out my motorhome window today is a lush, back yard field of green, profusely dotted with bright yellow flowers. I happen to like dandelions. Mainly, it is because of their cheerful color.

RVing from Texas to South Dakota, Full-Circle in the Lower 48 RVing lets us follow the sun -- and the snow. When Texas got too hot for our liking, we headed north. North right into white-out conditions that for a short time looked like a blizzard.

Catching Fishes and Kisses -- Why I Like RVing in a Small Motorhome I look up and see one fisherman, one party boat, and one pelican. The party boat revelers quickly pass from view. The pelican flies off to play swoop and dive air games with a seagull. The lone fisherman smiles as he reels in a hardhead catfish from the Laguna Madre.

Alaska is Home -- So Why Are Coleen and Bob Somewhere Else this Winter? Alaska is home, but we aren't there this winter. We've spent the past nine winters in Alaska (and the winter before that in South Dakota). This winter we are traveling, doing the snowbird thing.

Caretakers Are Part of Our Home Security While We Are RVing Property caretakers are helping us keep our home in Alaska safe while we are RVing in the lower 48 this winter. We also use other home security methods.

RVing Thousands of Miles from Home and Missing What? Several of you have pointed out that south Texas is a long way from Alaska. Not just in miles, but in styles. And, you are asking what it is that we are missing most this winter while RVing 1000's of miles from home.
