San Diego RVing

(Dennis asks...)

Do you know of any places outside of San Diego, Calif., about an hour or less, where we could spend a few weeks and enjoy the surrounding areas? The end of February we'd like to go visit that area. And, if you can, recommend any areas around Ocean or San Diego area, but I'd not like to R.V. too close to the old Mexico border; I've heard about some pretty bad stories around those areas. As well, maybe you can tell what you feel about certain areas, that you feel would not be an area to stay away from.

Coleen, the working while RVing editor replies:

Hi Dennis,

I'm not familiar with the San Diego area and really don't know what is there for RV parks or campgrounds. Maybe one of our other readers knows about it and will be kind enough to give you some suggestions.

Readers, can you help?

Camping Near San Diego Re: "Dennis"
by: RoadToad

Hey Dennis and others :)

We stayed at Dixon Lake / Park in North Escondido, CA. An awesome place. Campsites are on a ridge above the lake; the table and fire ring are about 20' below your parking space. Parking is on a leveled asphalt road/ cul-de-sac. From our parking site we picked up 2 dozen open WiFi connections. Modern toilets in restrooms within 200'. Seems like we paid less than $15 per night.
Google it for the street address.

Cheers,
Toad
