Toyota's Winnebago Look-a-Like

(Rodney writes...)

I am looking for an RV that looks like a Winnebago. It was made in the late 1970's to the early 1980's. It did not have the pick-up front end. It was also a four cylinder. Can anyone help me to locate a picture or at least help me with a name?

Coleen, the working while RVing editor replies:

I'll post this in the newsletter and we'll see who can remember.

I did some searching and found Toyota Winnebago RVs. But, they all looked to me like they had the pickup front-end.

Are you talking about a GMC motorhome maybe? Here's a link with pics.

A quick search turned up a 1986 Winnebago 4-cylinder that doesn't have a pickup truck front end. Here's the URL with photos:

RV Sales

Rodney,

In the late 80's - early 90's Winnebago produced two vehicles that incorporated a foreign engine.

The Warrior was a class 'C' style motorhome built on a Toyota chassis. It had a 4 cyl. engine and stick shift - later it became a 6cyl. with an automatic transmission.

They also produced the LeSharo which was built on the Renault chassis and engine. This chassis was dropped in favor of the Volkswagon chassis in the mid 90's. The motorhome was renamed to the Rialta when they made the switch to Volkswagon.

Hope this helps,
KC
