Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

Written Saturday, April 2 -- We're parked at the fishing pier, again. Actually, it is a construction pier that is a good place to fish -- room to park, not crowded, and the fish consistently bite.

There's something about fishing that helps me unwind -- even though I'm not the one who fishes. Perhaps it is the repetitious lapping of the waters. Maybe it is that fishing waters are often in scenic areas. It could be that I'm amused by the antics of the birds, squirrels, whatever other creatures are nearby. Perhaps. But, I think it is most likely that when watching Bob fish, I see a man who is thoroughly content and enjoying himself. He's lost in one of life's simple pleasures. And that, that I find tranquil and soothing.

Update written Wednesday, April 6 -- We've left Port Mansfield, Texas, and are making our way further north. My guess is that we will be in Texas for at least a few more days.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

RVing Tip

Cut down on the number of bottles in the shower, or that you need to find storage for, or that you need to lug to the campground shower house, by using one product that works as a facial wash, body, and shampoo.

Catching Fishes and Kisses -- Why I Like RVing in a Small Motorhome

I look up and see one fisherman, one party boat, and one pelican. The party boat revelers quickly pass from view. The pelican flies off to play swoop and dive air games with a seagull. The lone angler smiles as he reels in a hardhead catfish from the Laguna Madre.

Bob's Article

Packing Your Wheel Bearings Is Important for Good RV Maintenance

One of the first real automotive jobs I learned to do was to pack wheel bearings. I was exceptionally proud of my accomplishment, even though I had two or three years before I would even be able to drive. Since then, I've been somewhat obsessed with proper bearing care.

RVing Tip

Roadside fruit stands are a good place for RVers to stop and take a break. As a bonus, you can usually get fresh, local produce for a healthy snack or later meals.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

RVing Thousands of Miles from Home and Missing What?

Several of you have pointed out that south Texas is a long way from Alaska. Not just in miles, but in styles. And, you are asking what it is that we are missing most this winter while RVing 1000's of miles from home.

RV Life and Travel Tip

You can improve your gas mileage if you don't fight the wind. You can sometimes do this by driving early in the morning and later in the evening, instead of during mid-day.

Reader Feedback

~~ Tina A. writes: Thanks for all the great info on your website. Looking forward to reading about your travels and someday also be out there on the road.

~~ Tell Bob his article on "Your Electricity Costs Can be Low, Even with Metered Electric" was great. I always look forward to his articles because he puts such a straight forward approach on what he writes. Not all flowery if you know what I mean. That's not to say that you and others make their articles/comments flowery. I simply enjoy the direct approach.
