Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

We're enjoying summer at our home base near Soldotna, Alaska.

July is peak tourist season in Alaska. We hear other RVers talk of their travels to Alaska as being their "trip of a life time," and it reminds us how fortunate we are to live here.

One of the big things we did to prepare for full-time RVing was to buy and install a solar photovoltaic system on our travel trailer. You'll want to read Bob's solar panel article to find out more about that. Having a good solar system is a big part of what changed our trailer from a camper to a comfortable, full-time home.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Solar Panels: What Do I Really Need in a Photovoltaic System for RV Electricity?

Solar panels and a photovoltaic system are amazing. Use them to maintain your batteries in the off-season, to supplement while occasionally boondocking, or for a full time stand-alone electric system.

Some people will never be satisfied with a solar system. The system needs to be monitored and you need to adjust your daily behavior according to how the sun shines. Some people think they are too important to do that.

When we started with solar panels, we really wanted to make it work. Our modest set up worked for us for 359 days without any outside electricity.

RV Life and Travel Tip

Turn your RV refrigerator into a chalkboard, whiteboard, or cork bulletin board. Remove the original front panel. Replace with the other material. For a chalkboard, paint thin paneling with chalkboard paint.
