Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

July in this part of Alaska means we see more tourists than we do local people. Our weather is beautiful -- sunny days, with some showers. Our daytime temps are mostly in the 50s and 60s. The salmon are running thick. Moose, eagles, and other wildlife are out and about, showing off for the cameras. The mountain and ocean views are spectacular. No wonder visitors to our state consider their time here a trip of a lifetime.

I remember how in awe Bob and I were when we first arrived in Alaska. We'd stand outside our trailer and just gaze at all the beauty around us. Truth of the matter is, we still stand outside and gaze in awe of the beauty surrounding us here.

More this week about getting started as a full-time RVer. Be sure to read our guest article, Full-timing -- Would Have, Could Have, Should Have, written by Marty Chambers.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

RVing Tip

Before hooking your RV up to shore power. such as the electrical hook-up at a campground, test the outlet with a polarity tester. A polarity tester is a small, inexpensive gadget you get at a hardware store or RV supply store. Plug it into the shore power outlet and compare the lights you see on it to the chart on the tester. Those lights indicate whether the outlet is wired correctly or not.

Full-timing -- Would Have, Could Have, Should Have

Guest article by Marty Chambers

My wife Frances and I started talking about full-timing about eight or so years ago. I had a friend that went to full-timing about twelve years ago and at the time I could not understand why he would do that. But as the years came and went the idea started looking more and more appealing. Frances and I fell in love with the idea over time and started going to RV shows and figuring out what type of RV would best suit our needs.
