Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

A lot has happened since I sent out the last RV Life and Travel E-zine.

We went on our trip to Cancun, Mexico, (the one Watkins paid for) and had a wonderful time. We stayed at a beachfront resort and took advantage of the food, drinks, and entertainment that came with the package. The weather was perfect for lounging on the beach, eating shrimp tacos at the outdoor cafe, and touring the Mexican theme park Xcaret. It was great to visit with our Watkins friends, some who are also avid RVers.

Since we returned from our trip to Cancun, I've had two more surgeries to help fix my jaw problems. The treatment we opted for is experimental. But, it is much less traumatic than the other option, which was total removal of my jaw. My face is sore, but I'm doing okay. We have faith this is going to work.

Alaskan tourism is supposed to be up this year. I believe it. We're already seeing quite a few RVs on the highway.

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

RVing Tip

Kitchen towels make good replacement curtains for small RV windows. Shop around and you'll find some to match your decor, from casual terrycloth to elegant linen.

Special Offer for Joining Our Watkins Team this Month

If you'd like to get $50 in free Watkins products, consider joining my team as a sales rep. We need to earn a living, even while we are RVing. Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289) within the Summit Group. You could be one, too.

Motorhome Renovations: There's a Glitch with "Our New Motorhome"

Motorhome renovations ... do they ever go as planned? We hit a snag. We haven't yet started on mechanical, body, or systems problems. There's another issue to be on the lookout for when buying a used RV. What else could go wrong? Bob's story continues on our website.

Tip for New Full-time RVers

Take along your most loved possessions and use them. Love your cast iron cookware? Take it and use it; you won't be happy with the light weight stuff. Treasure Grandma's fine china? Take it and use it every day. You're living, not camping; you don't need to use paper plates.

Your RV Life and Travel Questions Answered

Suggestions for Picture Frames

~~ Suzanne asks: What is good to use for picture framing in an RV? My father is now a full time RV-er and I have a portrait of his granddaughter for him. I am not sure what type of frame to get him since he'll be traveling and living in the RV full-time now. What do you suggest? Thanks!

~~ Digital frames, plastic "glass," and mirrors were suggested by our readers.

Help Answer This RVer's Question

Wireless Pet Containment

~~ Pam asks: Anyone know the real story on the new Perimeter Wifi wireless pet containment system? Looking for reviews from real people. Such as how well it transmits and receives?

~~ My reply: If you've used the wireless fence for your pets, please let us all know how it worked for you. And, if you travel with pets but don't use an invisible fence, how do you keep your pets under control so they don't go running off or wander out of your RV site?

Bob and I are low tech when it comes to keeping track of our critters. We've always used a plain old collar and leash, on both cats and dogs.

RVing Tip

A towel bar mounted close to the floor is a good way to keep shoes neatly in place when you aren't wearing them. Use the wooden ones, so that you can cut the rod to fit the available space. Slip your shoes into it toe first and they stay in while traveling.

Reader Feedback

~~ Sharon writes: Coleen, just a quickie to let you know that your blog is very helpful and enjoyable reading. I can't wait to see a picture of the "new to you" motorhome that Bob has been dealing with. Also, hope your vacation was very relaxing and your medical situation turns our A-OK; keep the faith!

Thank you for having a website I can read as my husband and I are attempting to try this "fulltime" RVing -- so many things to do and so many questions on what and when to do them. I'll probably be contacting you again with a, "Oh, no, I didn't think of that!" now what do we do? Thank you for having this website to help with these "Oh no's."
