Life As We Live It ... on the road with Coleen and Bob

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are They Doing?)

As I write this, Bob is out moving snow. With his tractor. He enjoys doing that. It's three of the reasons why we sometimes spend the winter here at our home base in Alaska. He likes using his tractor. He likes doing yard work. He likes the snow.

I've heard from other RVers, too, that they like having the four seasons, that if they don't see snow, they miss it.

Me? Well, I get a kick out of watching the antics of the gray jays at the bird feeder. But, truthfully, I'd rather be watching snowbirds in some southern state where it is warm and sunny. That said, Alaska is beautiful in the winter and I intend to enjoy it fully.

We've had a number of questions recently about how and when we started full-time RVing. How we got started? If we were retired or what we did for money? How long we spent planning? What kind of full-timer's rig we bought? If you're interested, you'll want to read the personal story I wrote about our life before and during the first few months of full-time RVing. Our answers to these questions are usually not what people are expecting to hear. You'll find it by clicking here.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Full-time RVers Tip

Mount a wall pocket (the kind used in offices) near the door of your RV. Keep three file folders in it. Use one for receipts and another for outgoing mail. Label the third one "Local File" and use it for maps, campground handouts, tourist brochures, community coupon books, and other information for the area. Update the Local File when you move to a new location.

Watkins Summit Group Bus. Info

We need to earn a living, even while we are RVing. Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289) within the Summit Group. I'd love to help you build a successful business, too. To find out what we do and how you can get started click here.

Tip for Campground and RV Park Owners

Include the location -- city and state -- of your park on the home page of your website. Make it easy for us to see if you are on our travel route or near our RVing destination.

RV Lifestyle Tip

Here's an easy way to make a place for your shoes, so they are out of the way, yet readily accessible: Mount a towel bar near the floor on the backside of the dinette seat, along the bottom of the bed, or wherever you have room. Slip your shoes in toe first. We used wooden one, so it matches and blends in. The one we used is long enough to hold several pairs. The back of one of our dinette seats is near the trailer door, so it is super convenient to slip shoes in the rack when we come in and easy to grab them as we are headed out.

RVing with Pets Tip

If you are traveling with pets who routinely take a prescription medicine, your primary veterinarian may be able to mail you the prescriptions on a regular basis. It may be easier and less costly than going to a new vet each time.

RV Life and Travel Tip

Before heading out to do your laundry, pour your liquid detergent onto a washcloth or other item in the laundry. That way, you don't need to carry the jug of detergent there and back. Some detergents do bleach, so be sure to put the detergent on a colorfast item.
