Homemade Pickup Camper

Isn't this homemade camper neat and tidy looking? That's one of the first things I noticed about it. It's not hacked together like some do-it-yourself camper jobs.

This homemade pickup camper has some thought out details. Notice how the roof overhangs the back door. I can imagine standing in the doorway, a mug of freshly brewed coffee in hand, looking out over the rolling ocean, with snow-capped mountains in the background, while it is raining -- and not getting wet. Speaking of the doorway, did you see how the back entrance is a set of double doors? How handy that would be for loading and unloading all sorts of things. These are the kind of details you can design in when you build your own camper.

Whoever built this truck camper must have had some decent carpentry skills. The RV exterior is trimmed out and finished. It looks like quality construction. I think it shows pride in his workmanship.

We saw this homemade camper in Homer, Alaska, out on the Spit. We were just driving around when we noticed it. I didn't get to talk to the owner. So, I don't know if someone built it and is using it himself, or if it was custom built and sold to the current owner. My guess is that it is a one-of-a-kind rig.
