Farm equipment wasn't what we expected to see at the RGV Livestock Show Grounds. But the hit and miss engines, old tractors and other antique machinery, and tool displays were a fun find.
The Rio Grande Valley Old Farm Equipment Club was having their show the same weekend and at the same place as the All Valley Rio Grande Valley RV Show. We went for the RV show, but had a good time at the tractor show, as well.
John Deere, Allis Chalmers, Minneapolis Moline, Massy Harris, and other old tractors made a colorful display outside. They represented a wide cross section of common tractor models of their day.
An RVer tended a row of hit and miss engines These power plants made farm chores such as grinding grain so much easier.
A large building housed more displays. Cotton bales and a cotton scale. A forge. Vintage hand tools. An old International Harvester cotton picker. Rows of farm implements, big and small.
Club members were on hand, ready to visit about their machinery, the weather, and traveling. They sold club buttons and homemade cookies. We bought both!
Bob, especially enjoys old farm equipment and history. Finding this show was a great way for us to round out the day.
